Edmund A. Egan, MD is a founder, major owner, Chairman and Chief Medical & Scientific Officer of ONY, Inc. Dr. Egan is also a Professor of Pediatrics (neonatology) and of Physiology & Biophysics at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Infasurf (calfactant) is the result of investigations from Dr. Egan’s research laboratory in collaborations with scientists from the University of London (Ontario), the University of Toronto and the University of Rochester in the 1980s. He has been the leader of ONY both before Infasurf’s approval by FDA and after.
Dr. Egan provides ONY, Inc. with a sophisticated understanding of lung surfactant biophysics and physiology coupled with clinical expertise in neonatal intensive care. Dr. Egan has an MD from Emory University, did his specialty training at the University of Florida and University College, London, England.
